Twenty years of being "just a teacher" has allowed me so many opportunities to work with some amazing educators and wonderful children. I am currently the master teacher for the Teacher Advancement Program (www.tapsystem.org)at Glen Oaks Middle Charter School in Baton Rouge. I have enjoyed serving as a freshmen academy administrator, an assistant principal, a school improvement coordinator, and a teacher. I have worked on campuses spanning grades Pre-K through 12 over the past two decades.
Northwestern State University prepared me deeply with a BA in elementary education. I love my LSU Tigers as I hold an MA in Curriculum and Instruction and an MA in Educational Leadership from our flagship university. I am currently completing on my Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette with a focus on the teachers who continuously pursue expertise. I am National Board Certified in Early Adolescence Mathematics.
My career has been full of blessings, which have allowed me to meet some incredible educators from around the world. In 2003, I was named a Milken Educator and have served on several panels concerning American education. In 2006 I was blessed to share Disney's Outstanding Teacher of the Year with my partner teachers, Monique Wild and Kathryn Edmonds. I have presented at local, state, and national events.
I reside in Geismar, Louisiana with my husband and two daughters. Together we enjoy traveling, exploring the great outdoors, entertaining, and laughing. Life is a gift! Use it as a gift to others!
