What a great summer! I have enjoyed traveling to Ruidoso, New Mexico and Natchitoches, Louisiana to meet up with some great teacher friends again. Ruidoso Middle School is moving forward with teaming at a consistent pace. My friends at Northwestern Lab are some of my favorite people to hang with on a Saturday. What intrigues me about both of these groups is their desire to learn something new and to be secure with trying something that is not certain. Their work and their trust in each other is the secret. This summer I am reading The Courage to Teach. The author says we teach who we are. WOW! I am not sure I made a big career change this past week and I can tell you I am excited, but also relying on some courage. The new is always a bit scary, but if we can see grander picture, fear seems to disappear.
What have you done in your career that took COURAGE? What are you doing this summer to learn something new? How do your teaching friends make your effectiveness a reality?
